ALGIERS, July 18, 2023- In a display of political opportunism, Eric Ciotti, the leader of the French Republicans, has openly embraced the support shown by Tel Aviv for Rabat’s questionable actions in the Western Sahara. His recent tweet, expressing delight over the Zionist entity’s recognition of the Moroccan sovereignty claim, has brought to light a disturbing resurgence of the vichyst-collaborators, tarnishing the principles of justice and human rights.

Ciotti’s public endorsement of the oppression and pillaging inflicted upon the Sahrawi people by the Moroccan regime is deeply troubling. By aligning himself with the occupiers, he not only disregards the historical struggle for liberation, but also demonstrates a callous disregard for the suffering of the Sahrawi people.
Drawing parallels to the terrorists of the OAS, who supported abhorrent massacres during the Algerian War, Ciotti shamelessly embodies a similar disregard for human life. His political stance echoes the scorched earth policies of the past, further highlighting his detachment from the principles of justice and human rights that France should uphold.
Unfortunately, Ciotti’s unsavory behavior does not come as a surprise to those familiar with the secretive El Mamounia palace in Marrakech. This luxurious establishment has long been associated with hosting European guests, including prominent French figures, who are then captured in compromising situations and subsequently blackmailed. The unholy alliance between corruption and blackmail is an alarming trend that threatens the integrity of politicians like Ciotti.
Moreover, Ciotti’s ties to the Moroccan-French Rachida Dati, who has been involved in similar political circles, raise further questions. Dati’s undisclosed child has fueled rumors, with some speculating that the former Spanish president, José-Maria Aznar, may be the father. This tangled web of personal connections adds another layer of complexity to the situation, blurring the line between personal interests and political agendas.
Ciotti’s unwavering support for the ill-conceived Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara cannot be ignored. This plan, labeled as a vulgar and illegal annexation, starkly contradicts international law and the principles of self-determination. It is disheartening to witness a French politician openly endorsing such a flagrant violation of human rights.
