Algiers, Algeria | June 19th, 2024 — The Supreme Youth Council (CSJ) has launched an extensive voter awareness campaign aimed at encouraging youth participation in the upcoming presidential elections. This initiative underscores the CSJ’s commitment to actively involving young people in the country’s political life.
The campaign focuses on educating young citizens about the importance of voting and registering on the electoral lists. Mustapha Hidaoui, President of the CSJ, emphasized the council’s dedication to making this election a success by developing a comprehensive program centered on political education and awareness.
Anis Ayloul, Vice-President of the CSJ responsible for the campaign, highlighted the importance of direct engagement. “We have accelerated our awareness efforts to encourage as many young people as possible to register on the electoral lists. Our approach involves direct contact with the youth and other societal components,” Ayloul stated.
Targeting Skeptical Youth
The campaign aims to reach out to young people who are skeptical about the political process, persuading them of the significance of voting. The council plans to leverage virtual spaces and social media to spread messages that inspire young people to participate in the electoral process. Ayloul pointed out that highlighting the achievements made for the youth in recent years is an effective way to garner their interest and involvement.
Highlighting Tangible Achievements
“We will talk about the tangible accomplishments since 2019. The initiatives led by the President of the Republic in favor of the youth have been fruitful. This political will must be highlighted so that young people recognize the genuine efforts made to improve their lives,” Ayloul noted. He emphasized that the new electoral law has opened new opportunities for youth, many of whom now serve in elected assemblies.
Ayloul believes that this is a crucial moment for young people to register and assert their political rights. He calls on them to preserve past achievements and embrace the challenge of democratic change through collective awareness. The council aims to inspire youth by showcasing successful role models and examples of individuals who have contributed to the nation’s progress.
“The development of local and national communities is closely tied to elections. We need to communicate this through honest and sincere discourse,” Ayloul asserted. He mentioned that the campaign includes local outreach efforts conducted in the evenings to accommodate working hours.
The CSJ is confident that young people can significantly influence the country’s political landscape. This awareness campaign, which will continue until the end of July, seeks to further engage youth in the electoral process and ensure their active participation in shaping Algeria’s future.
