Algiers, September 22, 2023– The FADERCO Group, renowned for its excellence in manufacturing care and hygiene equipment, has ushered in a new era of environmental responsibility by becoming the inaugural company to sign an agreement with the public packaging waste recovery system, Eco-Jem. This landmark agreement was inked yesterday, solidifying FADERCO’s commitment to sustainability. The National Waste Agency (AND) confirmed this significant milestone, marking a promising leap forward in the realm of waste management.
Karim Ouamane, Director General of the National Waste Agency, celebrated FADERCO’s pioneering role in this transformative initiative. He stated, “We have set aside a special day for this occasion, given that the group is the first to be involved in this system.” Mr. Ouamane emphasized that AND, through the public waste recovery and valorization system, would now oversee the development of mechanisms to recover and process all packaging waste generated by the FADERCO Group within the national market. Furthermore, he hinted at the imminent participation of other industry leaders in this progressive system.
“This project,” explained Asma Amal, Director of Green Economy Development at the National Waste Agency, “is a non-profit endeavor aimed at organizing the Packaging Waste Recovery Division.” She continued, “It is sustained through financial contributions collected from waste-producing companies, the same companies that utilize packaging in their production and marketing processes. These contributions will be channeled into various stages of waste management, encompassing selective sorting, collection, transportation, and the enhancement of recycling sectors and companies.”
Mohamed El Aziz Khoufi, the Development Director of the FADERCO Group, expressed his pride in forging this alliance with the National Waste Agency. He underscored the potential of this project to elevate waste collection and recycling operations in Algeria, with particular significance for the FADERCO Group, whose packaging predominantly comprises cardboard and plastic materials.
This historic agreement not only underscores FADERCO’s commitment to sustainability but also heralds a promising shift in corporate responsibility across the country’s industrial landscape.
