FAF: New Algerian Stadium Receives CAF Accreditation, Enhancing Nation’s Football Infrastructure

Algiers, Algeria | July 24th, 2024 —  The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has announced a landmark achievement in the nation’s football infrastructure with the official accreditation of the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This accreditation authorizes the stadium to host matches for both CAF and FIFA competitions, marking a significant milestone for Algerian football.

In a communiqué issued on July 23, 2024, CAF extended its commendations to Algerian authorities, lauding the exceptional quality of the newly constructed stadium. The federation praised the venue’s adherence to international standards, recognizing it as one of the premier stadiums on the continent. This accolade reflects the high caliber of work undertaken in the stadium’s development, confirming its readiness to accommodate high-profile football events.

Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium joins an elite roster of certified stadiums in Algeria, becoming the sixth venue to meet CAF’s stringent criteria. The accredited stadiums previously included are:

• Miloud Hadfi Stadium in Oran
• Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine
• 19 Mai 1956 Stadium in Annaba
• Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki
• 5 July 1962 Stadium in Algiers

Moreover, it is anticipated that the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Douera will soon receive CAF certification, as it also aligns with the federation’s rigorous regulations.

This recent development represents a significant enhancement of Algeria’s football infrastructure, elevating the country’s status as a prominent host for major continental and international football events.
