Algiers, Algeria | January 03rd, 2024 — In a key meeting held in Algiers on Thursday, Finance Minister Laaziz Faid and Public Works Minister Lakhdar Rekhroukh co-chaired a high-level coordination session aimed at enhancing cooperation and supporting the successful implementation of investment projects within the public works (TP) sector. The session, attended by senior officials from both ministries, focused on refining the financial mechanisms and overcoming the challenges related to the financing and execution of these crucial projects.
Minister Faid underscored the pivotal role that the public works sector plays in driving economic growth and sustainable development in Algeria. “The public works sector is a cornerstone for economic growth and achieving sustainable development,” he remarked, emphasizing the need to establish a practical cooperation framework to effectively accompany the implementation of the sector’s investment programs. This collaboration is expected to significantly contribute to the strengthening of national infrastructure, an area central to the country’s long-term development goals.
Faid further called for all relevant institutions within his ministry to continue providing robust support to the public works sector, urging them to enhance their efforts in ensuring the seamless execution of projects. This aligns with the broader governmental push to boost investment in infrastructure, create favorable conditions for development, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Algeria’s socioeconomic growth.
In his remarks, Minister Rekhroukh reiterated his commitment to ongoing cooperation between the two ministries, emphasizing the importance of tackling the current and future challenges the public works sector faces. He stressed the need for innovative solutions to reinforce the resilience of the sector and ensure that it remains adaptable and efficient in meeting the evolving demands of national development.
