ALGIERS- The public air transport company, Air Algérie, has decided to resort to justice to defend its reputation against fake news and videos that are baseless, indicated, Tuesday in Algiers, the spokesperson of the state-owned company, Amine Andaloussi, quoted by the National Radio.
Speaking at a press briefing organized on the sidelines of an information session, Mr. Andaloussi declared that “in the face of the many videos relayed on social networks and whose aim is to harm the image of the company, Air Algérie has decided to resort to justice.”
He said that over the past year, “no less than 10 videos have been relayed on social networks, showing empty Air Algérie flights without providing any details on the date or destination of the flights,” which denotes, according to him, the “bad intentions” of the owners of these videos.
He, however, assured that Air Algérie customers are entitled to raise their concerns aimed at enhancing the performance of the company in an organized framework, recalling, in this respect, the launch of the “e-complaints” electronic platform that guarantees “rapid processing and also traceability of complaints.”
For his part, the head of the Revenue Management Department (DRM), in charge of setting ticket prices, Fouad Faidi, explained that Air Algérie “makes sure to maximize the profitability of all its flights” thanks to a system “with international standards” used by the biggest airlines in the world.
The director of the DRM also rejected the allegations concerning high prices compared to those of companies from neighboring countries. Mr. Faidi also stressed that the prices as well as the availability of tickets are linked to seasonality (high and low seasons), explaining that “Air Algérie tries to best meet the demands of its customers during these peak periods.”
The manager announced, on the occasion, “the launch of new products by the end of the current year,” while indicating that Air Algérie “achieved positive results during the first quarter of 2023.”
During his opening speech, the general manager of the company, Yacine Benslimane, indicated that the purpose of this information session was to share information with the media in order to avoid any “misinformation” concerning the practices of the company.
