Algiers, Algeria | June 28th, 2024 — In a significant development for the Algerian automotive industry, Fiat has successfully delivered 750 Doblò vehicles produced at its Tafraoui plant, located in the industrial zone of Oran. This was announced on Friday by Samir Cherfan, the Director for the Middle East and Africa region of Stellantis.
Rapid Production Ramp-Up
Cherfan shared the news via LinkedIn, noting the swift progress following the launch of the plant’s second automated assembly line two weeks ago. “750 Fiat Doblò produced in our Tafraoui plant have been delivered,” Cherfan wrote, highlighting the rapid increase in production capabilities. “In line with our earlier announcement this month, we are quickly ramping up production of Fiat Doblò at our Tafraoui plant in Algeria, increasing from 60 vehicles per day to 260 vehicles per day, with a third shift being added in July.”
High Demand and Workforce Expansion
The demand for the Fiat Doblò has been substantial, with over 20,000 potential customers expressing interest on the fiat.dz platform within just one week. This strong demand underscores the model’s popularity and market readiness. Additionally, Stellantis is actively recruiting to support this expansion, with the plant’s workforce now exceeding 900 employees.
Competitive Pricing
Following the commencement of local assembly operations, the price of the Doblò has been adjusted to make it more competitive. The vehicle is now priced at 2,740,000 DA including all taxes, with an additional option for metallic paint priced at 25,000 DA, bringing the total to 2,765,000 DA including all taxes for this configuration.
Significant Production Capacity
The Fiat plant in Oran was inaugurated in December 2023 and is currently producing both the Fiat 500 and the Fiat Doblò. The plant is projected to produce 40,000 vehicles this year, with an annual production capacity expected to reach 90,000 vehicles by 2026, according to Stellantis.
Remarkable Import Figures
Between March 2023 and March 2024, the Italian automaker imported 97,000 passenger and commercial vehicles into the Algerian market, marking a substantial presence in the region.
