Algiers, Algeria | June 13th, 2024 — FIAT El Djazair, part of the Stellantis group, has achieved a significant milestone at its Tafraoui plant in Oran with the commencement of production on the Fiat DOBLO. This development marks the inauguration of a second modern and automated assembly line, following the successful launch of Fiat 500 production at the same facility.
According to Stellantis, the Fiat DOBLO is being manufactured to meet international quality standards. The initial vehicles are already being distributed through FIAT El Djazair’s network across Algeria, reflecting the brand’s commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles to its customers.
Stellantis further disclosed that the Tafraoui plant is currently ramping up production, employing 850 staff members and currently producing 46 vehicles per day. The goal is to increase this output to 250 vehicles per day by the end of July, facilitated by the introduction of a third shift that will expand the plant’s workforce to 1200 employees, including teams dedicated to welding and painting.
FIAT aims to produce over 40,000 vehicles by the end of 2024, with a target of achieving a local integration rate exceeding 10%. This effort is part of FIAT’s strategy to enhance local value-added production and knowledge transfer.
By the end of July, FIAT plans to produce 7,000 Fiat DOBLO and 1,000 Fiat 500 vehicles to meet the demands of Algerian customers. This production increase underscores FIAT’s commitment to expanding its market presence and meeting the growing automotive needs in Algeria.
Raoui Beji, CEO of FIAT El Djazaïr, emphasized the significance of this milestone in enhancing the Tafraoui plant’s capabilities and reaffirmed FIAT’s dedication to creating value through local integration and knowledge transfer.
