Algiers, Algeria | October 2nd, 2024 — Finance Minister Laaziz Faid met with a delegation from the Qatari group Ooredoo, led by CEO Aziz Othman Fakhrou, on Wednesday in Algiers. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and developing Ooredoo’s activities in Algeria, as stated by the ministry.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, highlighted the renewed momentum in bilateral economic relations, particularly following the signing of several partnership agreements across various sectors, including health, agriculture, and industry. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the progress made in their collaborative efforts.
The Qatari delegation praised the successful operation of their investments in Algeria, emphasizing the positive results achieved thus far. They expressed a strong interest in expanding and diversifying their activities within the country, not only by continually developing their network but also by enhancing the range of services offered to Algerian consumers.
Discussions also covered Ooredoo’s role in the digitalization of Algeria’s economy, particularly in advancing electronic payment systems. The Qatari delegation shared valuable insights from their extensive experience in this field, gained from their operations in multiple markets, which they offered to transfer to Algeria.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their dialogue and strengthen exchanges, aiming to consolidate cooperative relations and leverage the significant potential of their mutually beneficial partnership. This engagement reflects a commitment to fostering economic collaboration and advancing Algeria’s digital transformation efforts.
