Algiers, Algeria | July 2nd 2024 — In two separate operations, the People’s National Army (ANP) detained five terrorists and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, as reported by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
Efficient Intelligence and Successful Operations
According to a communiqué from the MDN, the five terrorists were apprehended between June 20 and June 23, 2024, in two distinct operations conducted in Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Tamanrasset, located in the 6th Military Region. “In the fight against terrorism and through efficient exploitation of intelligence, combined detachments of the People’s National Army arrested five terrorists between June 20 and June 23, 2024, in two separate operations in the Operational Sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and the Military Sector of Tamanrasset,” the statement detailed.
Details of the Operations
The first operation in the Military Sector of Tamanrasset led to the capture of four terrorists: In-Adjenna Ahmed, alias Ahmed El-Targui; Foughas Abdelkarim, alias Beka; Aberzoulegh Moussa, alias Machaki; and Hadj Ousmane Boujemaa, aka Djema. These individuals were part of terrorist groups active in the Sahel region. They were found in possession of significant weaponry, including two FMPK machine guns, four Kalashnikov submachine guns, two ammunition belts loaded with 139 7.62×54 mm rounds, and six ammunition magazines filled with 148 7.62×39 mm rounds.
The second operation, carried out in the Operational Sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, resulted in the arrest of the wanted terrorist Barbouchi Mataa Moulan.
These successful operations highlight the ongoing efforts and commitment of the ANP in combating terrorism and ensuring the security and stability of the region.
