Algiers, Algeria | June 13th, 2024 — The National Liberation Front (FLN) has formally called upon President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to seek reelection in the upcoming presidential elections slated for September 7. This endorsement was announced during the opening session of the third Central Committee (CC) meeting of the FLN, where Secretary General Abdelkrim Benmbarek emphasized the party’s unanimous support for President Tebboune’s candidacy.
Benmbarek, speaking on behalf of CC members and party militants, lauded President Tebboune’s leadership as meritorious and wise, highlighting his role in achieving significant milestones for Algeria. The FLN sees continuity under Tebboune’s guidance as crucial for sustaining stability and advancing the nation’s development agenda.
The FLN views a new presidential term as essential for consolidating stability and furthering Algeria’s developmental trajectory. Benmbarek underscored widespread citizen support across the nation for Tebboune’s candidacy, citing his fulfillment of commitments to the people and his role in steering Algeria through complex domestic and international challenges.
Reflecting on Tebboune’s tenure since assuming office in December 2019, Benmbarek commended the president for his rational decision-making and commitment to democratic principles, which have contributed to restoring stability and advancing Algeria’s interests on the global stage.
Benmbarek highlighted recent political alliances forged by the FLN with allied parties aimed at fostering national unity and safeguarding Algerian interests. In addition to domestic matters, Benmbarek reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for Palestine in the wake of the ongoing war in Gaza. He praised President Tebboune’s leadership role in advocating for Palestinian rights at the United Nations Security Council, underscoring Algeria’s historic stance as a champion of the Palestinian cause.
