Algiers, Algeria | August 20th, 2024 — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Lebanese Republic, Mr. Abdallah Bou Habib, according to a communiqué issued by the Ministry.

During the call, Minister Bou Habib conveyed Lebanon’s profound gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his unwavering solidarity during Lebanon’s ongoing crisis. He particularly commended Algeria’s crucial decision to supply Lebanon with fuel, an initiative that has ensured the continued operation of the country’s power stations during a critical time. Bou Habib noted that this gesture of support has been warmly received across all segments of Lebanese society, reflecting the deep appreciation and positive sentiment towards Algeria’s timely assistance.

Moreover, Minister Bou Habib extended his heartfelt thanks to Algeria for its staunch advocacy of Lebanon’s interests on the global stage, particularly at the United Nations Security Council. He acknowledged Algeria’s decisive role in defending Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially in light of the repeated Zionist aggressions against Lebanese territory. Algeria’s diplomatic efforts were seen as a significant reinforcement of Lebanon’s rights and security, for which Bou Habib expressed sincere appreciation.

This exchange further cements the strong diplomatic ties between Algeria and Lebanon, reinforcing their mutual commitment to supporting each other in times of need.
