On Behalf of President Tebboune, Algeria Honors the Legacy of a Champion of Human Solidarity and Coexistence
Algiers, Algeria | April 26th, 2025 — In a profound gesture of solidarity and respect, Algeria was officially represented by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, at the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis, held Saturday morning at Saint Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Attaf seized the solemn occasion to extend, on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria’s heartfelt condolences to Vatican officials over the passing of Pope Francis. Attaf also paid a moving tribute to the Pope’s monumental humanitarian legacy, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to promoting the universal values of fraternity, solidarity, and peaceful coexistence among nations, as well as his tireless advocacy for the oppressed and marginalized around the world.
It is noteworthy that Minister Attaf arrived in Rome on Friday evening, entrusted with this solemn mission by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirming Algeria’s historical tradition of upholding the highest values of dialogue and coexistence on the international stage.
