FM Attaf to Attend 44th Ordinary Session of AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, is expected to be in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on February 14th and 15th, 2024.
As the head of Algerian diplomacy, Attaf will participate in the 44th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa.
This session of the Executive Council, which involves foreign ministers from AU member states, is preceded by the 47th ordinary session of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREP) and serves as a prelude to the 37th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
The upcoming summit, chaired by the President of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat from Chad, will bring together leaders and officials of the AU Commission, foreign ministers of AU member states, as well as officials from AU organs, bureaus, and partners.
During the Executive Council session, discussions will focus on the draft agenda, proposed decisions, statements, and recommendations for consideration by the heads of state and government during their 37th ordinary session of the Conference, scheduled for February 18th and 19th, 2024.
In addition to participating in the formal proceedings, the Algerian Foreign Minister will engage in bilateral talks and meetings with several of his counterparts on the sidelines of the event.
