ALGIERS- Algeria is set to host the first-ever Scientific Conference on Food Security in the Arab World this May. The announcement was made by President Abdelamdjid Tebboune, who stated that the conference will bring together leading Arab specialists and experts to develop scientific and practical proposals, as well as concrete projects to support the food security of Arab peoples.
The conference is a direct result of the Algiers Summit, which took place on November 1 and 2, 2022. The summit placed unprecedented importance on economic issues, with a particular focus on food security and the need for cooperation mechanisms to promote economic integration. This integration is seen as essential for the renewal and economic prosperity of the Arab zone.
The Algiers Summit approved several priorities, including a sustainable program for Arab food security, an Arab strategy for sustainable agricultural development, and an initiative to improve the technological quality of locally produced wheat and the sustainability of Arab pastures.
