ALGIERS- Speaking on the sidelines of the Algerian-Swedish business forum, the General Director of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar Rekkache, announced the examination of 124 foreign investment requests in Algeria.
According to the same official, these requests are ready to be implemented, including projects from several large companies and multinationals.
“These projects will be able to be registered with the agency and implemented once the implementing texts of the law on economic land are published. To implement these requests, we are committed to providing all the necessary conditions, especially since we will soon launch the digital platform to register requests for economic land,” said Mr. Rekkache, emphasizing that the new digital platform will be launched before the end of the first quarter of next year.
90 foreign projects registered
Regarding foreign direct investments or those through a local partnership, Mr. Rekkache mentioned that 90 projects are registered with the agency, and their investment is currently being implemented.
Furthermore, Mr. Rekkache believes that Swedish partners, through their investments, can contribute to the development of technology transfer, the knowledge economy, and innovation.
“Sweden has significant experience in sustainable development, environmental protection, and digitization,” he emphasized.
Interested Swedish Companies
For his part, the Swedish Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Bjorn Haggmark, stated that companies from his country are interested in various investment sectors in Algeria, including energy, transportation, telecommunications, digitization, and the mining sector.
According to the diplomat, Sweden and Algeria face similar challenges in finding sustainable solutions to the effects of climate change and *”moving quickly towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions,”* highlighting his country’s expertise in this sector.
It’s worth noting that around ten Swedish operators were present at this meeting, during which B2B meetings were organized with national operators.
