Algiers, Algeria | May 17, 2024 —The Algerian economic community is in mourning following the death of Laïd Ibrahim, the founder of the Ifri Group, who passed away on Friday, May 17, at the age of 89. The announcement was made by the company through a statement on its Facebook page.
The statement expressed, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of El Hadj Laïd Ibrahim, founder of the Ifri Group in 1986.”
Laïd Ibrahim is commemorated as a visionary and dedicated entrepreneur who, through his pioneering spirit and steadfast commitment, built a significant industrial conglomerate within the Algerian economy. His legacy is a powerful testament to his devotion, patriotism, and integrity. The loss of this extraordinary individual leaves a substantial void among all who knew, collaborated with, and admired him.
The statement further pledged, “We vow to honor his memory by continuing his work with the same determination and adherence to the values and principles he held dear. His memory and his human and professional qualities will forever remain in our hearts.”
Born on January 16, 1935, Laïd Ibrahim originated from a family in the commune of Ifri Ouzellaguen, a site of considerable historical significance in the context of the Algerian revolution.
The Ifri Group, founded in Ighzer Amokrane in the commune of Ouzellaguen, south of Bejaia, stands as one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Algeria. The group is renowned for its Ifri-branded mineral water, alongside its diverse range of carbonated beverages, fruit juices, and olive oil products.
