France’s Military Exports to Zionist Entity: Complicity in Gaza Genocide

ALGIERS- In a startling revelation, it has come to light that since 2013, France has been annually selling 20 million euros worth of military components to the Zionist entity, sparking accusations of complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The annual report on France’s arms exports, presented to Parliament by the Ministry of the Armed Forces in July 2023, details the military components delivered to the Zionist entity in 2022. Although seemingly a small fraction of the Zionist entity’s extensive military arsenal, this revelation has ignited controversy over France’s involvement in the genocide.

The report, aimed at informing the national representation about the transfers of French military equipment worldwide, identifies these complete and ready-to-use weapons as the only ones shipped from France to the Zionist entity last year. In contrast, data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), an independent source tracking military equipment exports, does not list France as a direct supplier to the Zionist entity. The major weapons exports, as per SIPRI, have been predominantly from the United States, Germany, and Italy.

However, since 2013, France has consistently sold an average of 20 million euros worth of military components to the Zionist entity annually. The French government has also granted export authorizations to the entity, totaling 357 million euros, including allocations for the production of explosives. Notably, these authorizations, issued by the Interministerial Commission for the Study of Exports of War Materials (CIEEMG), do not necessarily translate into actual deliveries.

In addition to the arms exports, another dimension of the trade involves “dual-use” goods, which have both civilian and military applications. In a separate report, France’s Ministry of Economy and Finance reveals transfers of such components to the Zionist entity, amounting to 34 million euros in 2022. This includes a substantial 29 million euros designated for “sensors and lasers,” crucial components for military applications.

While the financial volumes may seem relatively modest compared to France’s major military clients, critics argue that the ethical implications of such transactions are substantial. Patrice Bouveret, co-founder of the Armaments Observatory, stresses that the adoption of an embargo would not significantly impact French industry, emphasizing that this is a political choice rather than an economic or financial necessity.
