ALGIERS- In a recent development, Dzair Tube sources have confirmed that the policeman responsible for the tragic shooting of the young man of Algerian origin, identified as “Nahel,” in France, is Franco-Moroccan. The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, intensifying ongoing unrest and fueling a growing crisis over issues of police violence and racial discrimination.

The tragic killing of Nahel took place on Tuesday morning, initially shrouded in conflicting narratives from French police sources. At first, it was claimed that the young man had attempted to run over two policemen on motorcycles. However, authorities later retracted this statement, clarifying that Nahel had evaded a checkpoint and failed to comply with police instructions.

A video capturing the incident swiftly circulated on social media platforms, capturing the attention of millions. The footage shows two policemen engaged in a conversation with the driver before one of them fires a fatal shot as the car attempts to drive away. The chilling words, “You will take a bullet in the head,” can be heard in the video, further heightening the sense of outrage and grief.

The shocking incident has triggered widespread protests throughout France, as citizens from diverse backgrounds express their anger and demand justice. French President Emmanuel Macron has responded by convening a ministerial crisis cell, while Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan announced the arrest of numerous individuals involved in the demonstrations.

President Macron, during the opening of the meeting, condemned the “unjustifiable” scenes of violence directed towards institutions and the Republic. Minister Darmanan, in a tweet, decried the “unbearable” acts of violence against symbols of the Republic, denouncing the burning and attacking of municipalities, schools, and police stations. He also called for calm and restraint in the face of escalating tensions.

Tragic Shooting of Algerian-Origin Youth Sparks Outrage and Protests in France

Clashes between police forces and protesting youths have escalated over the past two nights, starting in the Nanterre region where Nahel was killed and spreading to Lyon, Lille, and Toulouse. To maintain control and order, authorities have deployed thousands of security personnel across affected areas.

In the suburb of Clamart, protesters set cars and tramway vehicles ablaze, while a school in Bezons, near Nanterre, was targeted and attacked. In Toulouse, multiple cars were set on fire, and petrol bombs were hurled at police forces, further exacerbating the already volatile situation.

Nahel’s mother has called for a march in Nanterre on Thursday afternoon to honor her son. In a video posted on TikTok, she expressed her determination, stating, “It is a revolution for my son.”

The tragic and deliberate killing of Nahel has not only deeply shaken France but has also ignited a nationwide outcry against police violence and racial discrimination. The incident has laid bare the urgent need for addressing these pressing issues within the country, as protests continue and demands for justice grow louder.
