French Prosecution Seeks 10-Month Suspended Sentence for Algerian Football Star Youcef Atal

ALGIERS-In a recent development, the public prosecutor in Nice, France, has requested a 10-month suspended prison sentence and a hefty fine of 45,000 euros against Algerian international football player Youcef Atal. The legal action stems from allegations of incitement to violence and hatred against the Zionist entity, following Atal’s involvement in a social media controversy that sparked outrage.
The prosecutor’s request comes after an extensive three-hour court session during which Atal, alongside his legal representation, presented his version of events. The footballer, known for his skills as a right-back, found himself at the center of a legal dispute after sharing a video on Instagram that supported Palestine.
