Algiers, Algeria | September 22nd, 2024 — Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Sonatrach, engaged in productive discussions with a high-level Libyan delegation led by Khalifa Abdel-Sadek, the Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, during the Gastech Global Energy Conference in Houston. This meeting was aimed at enhancing cooperation under the memorandum of understanding previously signed between Sonatrach and Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC).

An amendment to this agreement, introduced earlier this year, focuses on resuming the activities of the Algerian group in accordance with its contractual obligations while facilitating the development of discovered oil and gas fields in partnership with Libya. Both parties emphasized their commitment to strengthening cooperation to achieve shared strategic goals in this crucial sector.

In addition to discussions with the Libyan delegation, Hachichi and his team visited Honeywell’s headquarters in Houston. Honeywell, a leader in oil services and monitoring systems within the energy industry, showcased its innovative technologies aimed at methane emissions detection, digital solutions for enhancing facility efficiency, and advanced remote control and automation systems.

The Algerian delegation also toured Honeywell’s innovation center, gaining insights into the latest technological advancements designed to reduce the carbon footprint in the energy sector. This visit underscores Sonatrach’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in its operations, reinforcing its strategic objectives in both domestic and international markets.
