Gaza: One-Day Extension of Truce

ALGIERS- The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday, through an official statement, the extension of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This extension comes as a six-day humanitarian pause in Gaza was on the verge of concluding.

“The Palestinian and “Israeli” parties have agreed to extend the humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for an additional day,” stated Majed al-Ansari, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier on Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas had already declared a one-day extension of the ceasefire.

The continuation of the ceasefire is subject to the same conditions as previous pauses, requiring a halt to military activities and the facilitation of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, Ansari explained.

He further noted that the truce would proceed “within the framework of joint mediation by Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States.”
