ALGIERS- In an exclusive Interview with Baraka News website, conducted by the journalist Zhor Ben Ayad, Ahmed Brahimi, Vice President of the Global Coalition in Support of Alquds and Palestine, emphasized the chaotic nature of the war in Gaza, stating that it has shattered humanitarian values along the walls of Palestine. Amidst a challenging humanitarian situation and a devastating war unprecedented in history, Palestinian resilience in the land of prophets continues to forge a grand epic, causing the Zionist entity to taste the bitterness of humiliation, defeat, and collapse while believing it was achieving its alleged objectives.
Brahimi highlighted the dire situation in Gaza and the alarming silence of the Arab and Islamic world regarding the plight of the wounded Gaza. He stressed that Gaza, abandoned by enemies and betrayed by brethren, faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Palestinians are not only facing rockets and tanks but also starvation, driven by the occupier and its allies’ desire to subjugate them.
The War of Starvation
Regarding the Western countries’ response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Brahimi said, “At one moment, we thought they had awakened and wanted to be humane. They said they wanted to save the people of Gaza, so they sent their planes to air-drop aid. Some of it fell into the sea, some in occupied territories, and some deliberately in front of Zionist soldiers. When people rushed to collect the aid, they were killed. Today, the hungry are being killed for the crime of trying to satisfy their hunger.”
As long as the genocide being perpetrated against Palestine is concerned, he confided that Gaza was previously a large open prison, but now we say Gaza is being exterminated. He added, “The military operation initially aimed to achieve goals of eliminating resistance, displacing the population, and releasing hostages. However, after 6 months, none of these objectives were achieved. The war has now taken on a random form, killing for the sake of killing. Even Biden admitted, perhaps repentantly or regaining his consciousness, that the 30,000 who fell in Gaza had no connection to resistance, most of them being women and children. Yet, he could not stop the war machine that continues to claim lives.”
The Crime at Al-Shifa Compound May Be Greater Than Previous Crimes
Asked about the crime happening at Al-Shifa Compound, Brahimi affirmed, “Hospitals are protected under international norms and laws, but today at Al-Shifa Compound, the wounded are being executed, civilians and medical staff are being arrested, and we fear that after the operation at the compound, we will witness a great crime, perhaps even greater than previous ones.”
Regarding the Zionist entity’s threat to invade the densely populated area of Rafah, the Deputy Head of the Global Coalition stated that the bombing in Rafah continues daily, with casualties every day. However, the Zionist entity has adopted a method to avoid exposure, which is incremental killing.”
According to him, the ground operation that Netanyahu spoke of will only add to the death toll. There is no difference between killing one person or a hundred; they are souls being extinguished, all equal in the eyes of Allah.
He added, “We should not fall into the trap of focusing on numbers, as if the occupation army had not committed atrocities before, but only after invading Rafah. They invaded the north, where there were over a million and a half Palestinians, and killed many. Then they betrayed Khan Younis and killed more. Now it’s Rafah’s turn. But the most dangerous thing is that we are being drawn into their plans. People now think that the solution in Gaza lies in humanitarian aid, forgetting the ceasefire. We are faced with an illogical equation where aid is facilitated, and if the hungry enter to take it, they are killed.”
The Phenomenon of Silence Calls for Psychological and Sociological Study
Regarding the Arab and Islamic stance, Brahimi said, “I do not blame what the Zionist entity or America is doing, but I blame this nation, which numbers 2 billion and has failed to save a people from hunger.”
“Why the silence?” he added. “This is a question we must find an answer to. Our intellectuals and experts in psychology and sociology need to study this phenomenon because what is happening in Palestine does not require common bonds like language and religion, but it requires humanity. We call it, in our Algerian concept, manliness and valor because manliness is a value, not a gender.”
He further pointed out that Arab and Islamic inaction has permeated all areas, not only politically but even in the realm of protests, which have dwindled. If we wanted to kneel the Zionist entity, we could do so through economic boycotts. The problem is not just silence; there are disgraceful Arab positions on the ground. There are more than 2000 trucks at the Rafah crossing, with pictures of hunger, between life and death. All human values have been shattered and collapsed within the walls of Gaza.”
Algeria Stands up for Gaza at the Security Council
“When it comes to supportive countries for Palestine with unwavering stances, Algeria, South Africa, and Brazil stand out… Particularly noteworthy is South Africa’s call against the Zionist entity and Algeria’s representation at the Security Council,” he highlighted. Despite the United States exercising its veto, he continued, the Algerian delegate famously stated, “Tomorrow we will return,” demonstrating resilience. Furthermore, the strong intervention of the foreign minister at the Arab League, along with President Tebboune’s courageous speeches, challenging the world by stating that resistance is not terrorism, deserve recognition.
And to add: “However, if all countries adopted Algeria’s stance, the Zionist entity would not have escalated its aggression, observing the silence and inaction of the Arab and Muslim world. Without protests, boycotts, or aid, the role will soon shift to Egypt, Jordan, and all Arab countries after Gaza’s annihilation. Arabs and Muslims will be forgotten, and Israel will continue to stand.”
Regarding the adoption of an Arab-Islamic stance that restores some dignity, Brahimi emphasized that each one of us must search for our responsibility towards the Palestinian cause. It is crucial to leverage all pressure tools to halt the genocide inflicted upon Gaza.
Resistance Remains Strong on the Ground
Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa onslaught, the resistance has inflicted losses on the occupation army in both equipment and lives. When asked about the battlefield dynamics, he responded, “The resistance remains strong to this day. Sniper operations and tank destruction continue to yield daily achievements. The Zionist entity itself acknowledges its casualties, except for the mercenaries from 25 countries participating in this war, whose identities remain undisclosed.”
With regards to his vision for the end of this devastating war, the Deputy Head of the Global Coalition in the Support of Al Quds and Palestine emphasized the lack of clarity due to the absence of termination factors. He stated, “The Zionist enemy considers this war a battle for survival and existence. Netanyahu does not want it to end. Once it does, an upheaval within the Zionist entity will occur, as the Zionist society is also suffering. Many have emigrated, and even the residents of the Gaza envelope have fled. We know that the Gaza envelope is the lifeline of the Zionist entity.”
Brahimi concluded by emphasizing that ending the war depends on unifying visions and stances and taking all measures to pressure the Zionist entity. Supporting the cause of Palestine is not merely a matter of religion or awareness but a matter of honor, courage, and humanity.
