GECF Summit in Algiers Draws Praise from Foreign Press for Its Importance, Hospitality

ALGIERS- Journalists from foreign press outlets highlighted the significance of the 7th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), being held from February 29 to March 2 in Algiers, praising the excellent organization and warm reception.
Obada Alladan, Chief Editor at Al Arabiya, stated to APS that the Summit holds “paramount importance considering its venue and timing, as well as the growing interest in gas worldwide.” He emphasized that the Summit would initiate crucial dialogue on the role of gas as a reliable and safe energy source in transitioning to renewable energies.
Alladan also expressed his delight at the warm welcome and excellent organization since his arrival, affirming, “Algeria is a hospitable country dear to our hearts. The reception and organization always meet expectations.”
Magdalena Linde, a journalist from the Croatian news agency “HINA,” noted the Summit’s importance for Europe amidst gas shortages and economic challenges due to inflation and rising prices. She also praised the warm welcome she received in Algeria, expressing her happiness to be present in the country.
Similarly, Hassan Haidar Diab from the Croatian newspaper “Journal du soir” assured that Algeria is “undoubtedly one of the best countries in terms of hosting foreign delegations at all levels.” He highlighted Algeria’s hospitality and the importance of the Summit for Europe, with all countries eagerly awaiting its results and final declaration.
Diab emphasized Algeria’s impartial positions, making it a perfect intermediary to bridge views and build consensus.
Other foreign journalists commended the facilitations provided to foreign media regarding visas, accommodation, and the conference venue.
Fadia Al-Husseini from UNews underscored the significance of hosting the 7th GECF Summit in Algeria, considering the country’s political, diplomatic, and economic weight.
