Gendarmerie Operation Shuts Down Places of Debauchery in Capritour, Bejaia, Amidst Public Relief for Swift Response

ALGIERS- The gendarmerie of the wilaya of Bejaia, with additional reinforcements, has successfully closed down several clandestine places of debauchery in Capritour. The intervention, conducted during nighttime, led to the closure of cabarets and the arrest of individuals involved in these illegal activities. This operation was initiated in response to the persistent protests of local residents, who demanded the closure of numerous wild cabarets and clandestine drinking establishments that were believed to pose a continuous threat to the safety of the community.
The protests, organized by concerned citizens, shed light on the inherent dangers associated with these illicit venues, which were not only hotspots for prostitution but also hubs for drug-related activities and other social ills.
In recent times, tourist facilities have been increasingly infiltrated by prostitutes, making it challenging, if not impossible, for families to enjoy their stay in these areas. Furthermore, the uncontrolled proliferation of clandestine establishments of debauchery along the coasts of Béjaia has exacerbated the problem. Bars and cabarets have sprouted like mushrooms, spreading their detrimental influence throughout the region. Even the traditionally conservative Soummam valley has not been immune to this alarming phenomenon.
The number of prostitutes infiltrating the wilaya has continued to escalate, as reported by security services. This proliferation has not only contributed to an increase in criminal activities but has also had severe negative consequences on the family environment. Instances of family abandonment, rising divorce rates, and the disintegration of family units have become all too common, highlighting the urgent need for action.
The recent operation by the gendarmerie aims to address these pressing concerns and restore a sense of security and well-being to the local population. By dismantling the places of debauchery, the authorities have taken a significant step towards combating the social ills plaguing the region.
