Algiers, Algeria | December 2nd, 2024 — General Said Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the National Defense Minister and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), presided over a grand ceremony on Monday at the Ministry of National Defense headquarters. The event honored Algeria’s military sports delegation, whose remarkable achievements at the 2nd African Military Games held in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 18 to 30, brought pride to the nation.
According to a statement by the Ministry of National Defense, the Algerian military delegation secured an impressive second place among 22 participating countries, underscoring its excellence in a highly competitive field. This strong performance reflects Algeria’s growing stature in international military sports competitions.
General Chanegriha conveyed the heartfelt congratulations of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, to the victorious delegation. “Your return from Abuja as proud representatives of Algeria fills us with immense joy. I extend the warmest congratulations on behalf of the President of the Republic, who acknowledges your outstanding accomplishments,” he said during his address.
The Chief of Staff lauded the delegation for their courage, determination, and exemplary results achieved against seasoned and highly competitive African military teams. “Securing second place in the overall rankings is an achievement of great distinction, particularly in light of the rigorous competition. Your performance reflects the quality and progress of military sports in Algeria,” he stated.

General Chanegriha expressed profound gratitude to the delegation’s supervisors, whose expertise and commitment were instrumental in the team’s success. “Your work exemplifies the true meaning of national pride and underscores the ANP’s dedication to excellence,” he said.
