General Chanegriha Oversees Strategic Naval Drill “Diraa El-Mouatwassit-2024” in Jijel

Algiers, Algeria | June 5th, 2024 — General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Armed Forces (ANP), directed the progress of the strategic naval exercise “Diraa El-Mouatwassit-2024” in Jijel on Wednesday.
As outlined by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN), during his visit to the 5th Military Region, General Chanegriha observed the exercise unfold at the shooting range of the Eastern Maritime Front in Jijel. The drill featured an anti-surface missile launch and specialized exercises conducted in the open sea.
Accompanied by Major General Mahfoud Benmedah, Commander of the Naval Forces, and Major General Noureddine Hambli, Commander of the 5th Military Region, General Chanegriha received a comprehensive briefing on the exercise from the Commander of the Eastern Maritime Front at the main naval base in Jijel.
Subsequently, aboard the command and deployment vessel “Kalaat Beni-Abbès,” General Chanegriha witnessed the anti-surface missile firing exercise. The statement highlighted the exemplary professionalism displayed by the naval units of the Eastern Maritime Front, showcasing impeccable cohesion among engaged formations and precise execution of planned stages.
The accurate neutralization of the naval target underscored the readiness of the forces involved in the exercise. General Chanegriha also observed specialized exercises conducted in the open sea, where crews exhibited discipline and adherence to meticulously devised plans, demonstrating mastery over various armaments and equipment.
Following the exercise, General Chanegriha conducted an inspection of the participating units. The statement recalled General Chanegriha’s inauguration of the Regional Logistics Base of the North African Regional Capability in Jijel the previous afternoon. This base serves as a strategic mechanism of the African Union for conflict management and resolution, as well as for promoting regional and continental peace and security.
During the inauguration, General Chanegriha received a detailed briefing on the regional logistics base and interacted with its staff, who expressed their commitment to upholding the honor of the ANP and Algeria within the framework of this crucial mechanism.
The MDN’s statement concluded by reaffirming the Algerian naval forces’ dedication to maintaining operational readiness and contributing to regional security and stability.
