Algiers, Algeria | June 5th, 2024 — General Emballage SPA, a leading manufacturer and transformer of corrugated cardboard, has unveiled plans to establish a paper production plant in Naâma. The facility is designed to produce 350,000 tons of paper annually, marking a significant expansion in the company’s operations.
At a ceremonious event on June 1, 2024, the company’s CEO, Ramdane Batouche, received the official land concession act, symbolizing the commencement of this ambitious project. Batouche highlighted the transformative potential of the new plant, stating, “This large-scale project will radically reconfigure the industrial and economic landscape of Naâma, creating 800 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs, and eliminating the need to import certain types of PPO.”
Currently, General Emballage operates three industrial sites in Akbou (Bejaia), Oran, and Sétif, employing over 1,200 individuals. The new Naâma facility will not only boost production capacity but also significantly contribute to the local economy.
