General Saïd Chengriha Deepens Algeria-India Military Cooperation During Official Visit: High-Level Meetings Mark Third Day of Strategic Talks Between Algiers and New Delhi

Algiers, Algeria | February 7th, 2025 — Algerian Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Saïd Chengriha, continues his official visit to the Republic of India, reinforcing the historic and strategic ties between the two nations. On the third day of his diplomatic mission, Chengriha was formally received in New Delhi by India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, in a meeting that underscored the shared commitment to bolstering bilateral military cooperation.

Lieutenant General Chengriha began his day with a solemn tribute at India’s National War Memorial in the capital, where he laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence in honor of the fallen soldiers commemorated at the site. This symbolic gesture reaffirmed Algeria’s respect for the sacrifices made in the pursuit of sovereignty and peace, principles that both nations have staunchly defended on the global stage.

Following this tribute, Chengriha proceeded to the Indian Defence Headquarters, where he engaged in high-level bilateral discussions with General Anil Chauhan. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Indian Armed Forces, members of the Algerian military delegation, and Algeria’s Ambassador to India, Ali Achoui.

The discussions centered on evaluating the current state of military collaboration between Algeria and India, exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in defense technology, joint training exercises, and intelligence sharing. In response, General Anil Chauhan welcomed Chengriha and the Algerian delegation, expressing India’s profound appreciation for the strong and enduring relationship between the two countries. The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their intent to enhance defense ties through increased military training exchanges, joint military exercises, and defense industry partnerships.
