ALGIERS- The German newspaper “Junge Welt” has highlighted the ongoing conflict in Western Sahara, erupted in November 13, 2020, after Morocco breached the ceasefire agreement, returning to a state of hostilities. The article points out that Morocco’s normalization with the Zionist entity has put Rabat at odds with the Moroccan people who reject this decision.
Journalist Jorg Tiedjen, specializing in the Western Sahara issue, also discusses the “sudden deviation” in the stance of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez regarding the Western Sahara issue. He notes that the reasons behind this abrupt change are still unclear.
The article delves into the “Maroc-Gate” scandal that unfolded at the end of 2022 when Belgian investigators arrested a group of European Union parliamentarians and politicians, revealing a major bribery and influence-peddling scheme within the European Parliament.
Referring to the “Pegasus” spyware scandal, Tiedjen points out that the Moroccan regime not only spied on dissidents in the country but also targeted foreign politicians, including Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. He highlights the European Parliament’s reprimand to Morocco last summer for its involvement in the “Pegasus” affair.
The German journalist suggests that the erratic behavior of the Rabat government might be the reason for the European Union’s leniency in accepting the end of the fisheries agreement with Morocco last summer. He reminds readers that the European Court of Justice declared the agreement “null and void” due to the exploitation of fishing zones in Western Sahara, a territory under occupation.
Regarding the recent shift in the Spanish Prime Minister’s stance on the Western Sahara issue, Tiedjen speculates about possible pressure or influence exerted by Morocco. He notes that the full content of the letter allegedly written by Sanchez to the Moroccan king has not been revealed yet.
The article also touches upon the “Jorge Team” scandal, a Zionist disinformation agency exposed for spreading fake news globally. Tiedjen recalls the dismissal of French TV host Rachid M’Barki, involved in the “Jorge Team” campaign supporting Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara.
