Algiers, Algeria | December 3rd, 2024 — In a decisive move to enhance Algeria’s industrial sector, Sifi Ghrieb, Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, has emphasized the critical importance of mastering industrial trades as a foundation for sustained national economic growth. During a meeting held on Monday, December 2, at the Ministry of Industry, Ghrieb instructed officials to revitalize and strengthen the role of industrial training centers. These centers, he asserted, are key to fostering the necessary skills and expertise required to propel the industry forward.

The meeting, attended by leaders of several sector-specific organizations under the Ministry’s purview, focused on evaluating and refining the strategies of Algeria’s industrial and pharmaceutical sectors. Ghrieb’s call to action aims to enhance the effectiveness of training programs, ensuring that the workforce is well-equipped with the competencies needed for various industrial professions.

Strengthening the Role of Training Centers

Ghrieb underscored the necessity of revitalizing several critical training institutions, including the Algerian Institute of Normalization (IANOR), the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), the Algerian Accreditation Organization (ALGERAC), and the National Office for Legal Metrology (ONML). Other key institutions involved in this initiative are the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation Promotion (ADPMEPI), the Guarantee Fund for SME Credits (FGAR), and the National Institute for Productivity and Industrial Development (INPED), among others.

The minister’s directive highlights the importance of enhancing the roles of these institutions to foster industrial growth and ensure that the workforce remains adept in navigating an increasingly complex and competitive industrial landscape. “The reinforcement of training centers is paramount for achieving higher levels of proficiency across industrial trades,” said Ghrieb.

Launch of Key Industry Reference Frameworks

In a further step towards improving industrial development, Ghrieb announced the launch of five key reference guides that will serve as essential tools for the country’s industrial sector. These reference materials will focus on various vital areas such as industrial inputs and outputs, national competencies in industrial professions, industrial waste management, and the development of technological industrial zones.

These reference guides are expected to be instrumental in guiding public industrial groups, promoting reverse engineering in the industrial domain, and orienting investors and startups. They will also serve as valuable resources for research institutions, providing essential data and frameworks to inform industrial policy and development.

The Ministry of Industry views these initiatives as a significant move toward addressing the country’s need for a highly skilled workforce capable of advancing Algeria’s industrial and economic ambitions. Ghrieb’s strong commitment to the revitalization of industrial training and reference frameworks signals the government’s broader strategy to bolster Algeria’s position in the global industrial economy.
