Algiers, Algeria | June 1st, 2024 — Renowned Lebanese actress Nadine Al Rassi took a moment to reflect and express her admiration for the intricate Algerian zellige tiles during a leisurely stroll through the historic Casbah of Algiers with fellow artist Salma Ghazali. Al Rassi’s visit was part of her participation in the second edition of the “Le Générique d’Or” awards, also known as the “Golden Generic.”

Highlighting Artistic Excellence

The “Le Générique d’Or” awards ceremony, held at the Opéra d’Alger Boualem-Bessaih, spotlighted the finest comedic and dramatic television productions broadcast during Ramadan 2024. The event honored the Algerian TV series “El Batha” and “H’dech H’dech” as the best comedy and drama productions, respectively. Distinguished attendees included Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui, advisor to the President on education and culture, Omar Belhadj, President of the Constitutional Court, Culture Minister Soraya Mouloudji, and Communication Minister Mohamed Laagab, among other notable figures.

Fostering Creativity and Cultural Solidarity

Culture Minister Soraya Mouloudji emphasized the importance of the “Le Générique d’Or” awards in fostering creativity and elevating artistic standards in television productions. “This prestigious award significantly enriches our cultural landscape by promoting competition, evaluation, and a relentless pursuit of quality and professionalism in television works,” she remarked. The event not only celebrated artistic achievements but also reinforced cultural ties and solidarity, particularly in support of the Palestinian cause amid ongoing atrocities.

Communication Minister Mohamed Laagab highlighted the symbolic dedication of this edition to the State of Palestine, reflecting Algeria’s unwavering support for Palestinian rights. He noted that this gesture aligned with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s firm positions on international platforms, underscoring Algeria’s steadfast support for Palestinian resistance against occupation.

Celebrating Outstanding Achievements

In the comedy category, “El Batha” emerged as a standout winner, securing multiple awards:

– Best Comedy Series
– Best Female Role: Yasmine Abdelmoumen for her portrayal of “Rabiaa”
– Best Male Role: Nabil Asli for his role as “Laz”
– Best Direction: Walid Bouchbah

In the drama category, “H’dech H’dech” (“11/11”) was awarded Best Drama Series, with its director Oussama Kobi receiving the award for Best Direction. Additionally, Djamila Arres was honored with the Best Female Role award for her performance in “El Rihane,” directed by Egyptian filmmaker Mahmoud Kamil.

Honoring the Palestinian Cause

This year’s edition was dedicated to the Palestinian struggle, featuring a poignant short film depicting the ongoing genocide faced by Palestinians. This dedication reaffirmed Algeria’s firm stance and commitment to supporting Palestine on international platforms, highlighting the deep historical bonds between the Algerian and Palestinian peoples.

Paying Tribute to Industry Icons

The ceremony paid tribute to the late Algerian director and actress Rim Ghazali and Egyptian actor Tarek Abdelaziz, celebrating their substantial contributions to the arts. Additionally, several distinguished Arab artists were recognized for their exceptional careers, including:
– Algerian director Djaffar Gacem
– Syrian actor Abbas Al Nouri
– Tunisian director Nasreddine Sehili
– Egyptian actor Ahmed Salama
– Saudi actress and director Maryam Al Ghamedi
– Lebanese actress Nadine Al Rassi

Organized by the National League of Audiovisual Professionals under the slogan “A New Vision,” the second edition of the “Générique d’Or” attracted a diverse audience of artists, critics, and journalists, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic landscape of Arab television. This event not only acknowledges outstanding artistic achievements but also fosters cultural solidarity and professional growth within the Arab world.
