ALGIERS- Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui presided over a government meeting on Wednesday, addressing crucial legislative proposals and initiatives. The session covered the examination of draft laws concerning local municipalities and provinces, along with a proposed amendment to the currency and credit law.
In a statement following the meeting, the Prime Minister’s office clarified that the proposed laws related to local communities align with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitment to enhancing participatory democracy and bolstering the economic role of local entities in national development. The reforms also aim to diversify the national economy and overhaul the fiscal and financial systems to empower local municipalities with resources, strengthening their economic and social impact.
The government’s focus on legislative initiatives reflects a concerted effort to implement President Tebboune’s vision for a more robust and dynamic governance structure, fostering economic growth at the grassroots level.
During the meeting, in adherence to the President’s program aimed at bolstering water security, the government scrutinized a draft executive decree declaring the public utility for a project related to the connection works to the seawater desalination unit in the Bejaia province. The objective is to enhance the supply of potable water, aligning with broader efforts to improve water infrastructure and accessibility.
The project underscores the government’s commitment to addressing crucial issues such as water scarcity and ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for the population. By declaring the public utility for the desalination project, the government signals its determination to prioritize and invest in initiatives that contribute to the nation’s water security.
