ALGIERS- Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui chaired a government meeting on Wednesday, addressing various issues on the agenda, with a significant focus on preparations for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The session covered a range of topics, including proposals related to national solidarity measures, market regulation, supply organization, water resource management, hygiene conditions, and the efficient functioning of public facilities and services.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the government reviewed proposals aimed at ensuring a smooth Ramadan period, emphasizing measures to enhance national solidarity, regulate markets, and manage resources effectively. Additionally, discussions encompassed strategies for maintaining proper hygiene conditions and optimizing the functionality of various public services.
During the meeting, the government received a presentation on the national strategy for the production and storage of fuel, emphasizing energy security. The strategy aims to optimize refining capacities, proactively meet the increasing demand for fuel, and diversify export capabilities. These directives were outlined by the President of the Republic during the Cabinet meeting on January 7, 2024.
Furthermore, a presentation was made on the national strategy to address climate challenges, focusing on adaptation to climate change and mitigating its impact on the country.
At the conclusion of the session, the government approved a draft executive decree related to the implementation of projects within the framework of the national seawater desalination program. This program, approved by the President of the Republic, is a crucial component of water security initiatives.
The government’s comprehensive approach, addressing both immediate concerns related to Ramadan and broader national strategies, underscores its commitment to enhancing various aspects of public life and securing the nation’s future. The decisions taken during this meeting reflect a proactive stance on issues ranging from social welfare to environmental resilience.
