Minister Soraya Mouloudji orders swift social intervention and intensified psychological care for the injured, following the tragic landslide that claimed four lives and injured thirteen others in the Sanaouber district
Algiers, Algeria | April 27th, 2025 — In a swift and coordinated response to the tragic landslide that struck Oran’s Sanaouber district, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, Soraya Mouloudji, issued urgent directives on Sunday to accelerate the distribution of aid and to reinforce the psychological care of the injured.
During her visit to Oran, Minister Mouloudji instructed the Directorate of Social Action and Solidarity (DASS) of the wilaya to expedite the provision of humanitarian aid to affected families. According to a statement from the Ministry, she also called for the activation of proximity solidarity cells to conduct immediate social surveys in the disaster-stricken area under the close supervision of local authorities.
“The distribution of assistance must be accelerated, and psychological support for victims must be strengthened without delay,” Mouloudji stressed, highlighting the State’s unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering of those impacted by the disaster.
This decisive action comes in the wake of the devastating landslide that resulted in the deaths of four citizens and left thirteen others injured. In line with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a high-level ministerial delegation was dispatched to Oran to ensure the swift and comprehensive management of the situation.
The delegation, which included the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Urban Planning, Brahim Merad, Minister Soraya Mouloudji, and the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, was accompanied by the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, and the Director General of Civil Protection, Boualem Bourelaf.
The officials personally visited the affected site to assess the extent of the damage and monitored the care provided to the injured at local medical facilities. Their presence not only reflected the State’s solidarity with the victims but also reaffirmed a national strategy that prioritizes quick intervention, comprehensive support, and the prevention of future tragedies.
