ALGIERS- The Algerian public television broadcasted live from the Grand Mosque of Paris, the weekly Friday prayer (Salat al-Jumu’ah), during which the Imam highlighted the necessity for the Muslim nation to preserve the values of unity, brotherhood, and solidarity, while also expressing support for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who have been victims of Zionist aggression.
Taking place on the 12th day of the sacred month of Ramadan 1445, corresponding to March 22, 2024, the Imam of the Paris Mosque emphasized the importance of remaining faithful to Islam, rooted in the noble Holy Quran and Sunnah, while promoting the values of unity, brotherhood, and justice. He noted, however, that it is crucial not to forget the suffering and distress of Muslims around the world.
In this context, he cited the “striking example of Gaza, where the situation has significantly worsened,” highlighting that this sacred month is considered a “period of heightened trial where hunger, fear, and suffering are exacerbated due to very difficult living conditions.”
“Despite these conditions, the population of Gaza continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience, drawing strength from their faith to overcome the obstacles in their path,” he affirmed, stating that “we are called to actively engage in supporting our brothers and sisters in Gaza and in other regions of the world where populations face similar challenges.”
“May our prayers work to establish peace, justice, and dignity for all,” concluded the Imam, who spoke in both Arabic and French.
It is noteworthy that the Ambassador of Algeria to France, Saïd Moussi, and the Rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, Chems-Eddine Hafiz, attended the sermon and performed the Friday prayer.
