ALGIERS- The Public Prosecutor at the penal, economic, and financial tribunal of Sidi M’hamed in Algiers has requested a harsh penalty of 10 years in prison, along with a one million dinars fine, for the former delegate minister in charge of micro-enterprises, Nassim Diafat. Diafat is currently under prosecution for corruption-related charges.
Additionally, the prosecutor sought a 6-year prison sentence for the former CEO of the ANADE company, and sentences ranging from 2 to 5 years for Nassim Diafat’s two brothers and his spouse.
In a broader scope, the prosecutor called for prison terms varying from 2 to 8 years for 34 other individuals implicated in the same corruption case.
Diafat was taken into pre-trial detention following accusations by the former CEO of the ALRIM company. The charges against him include involvement in influence peddling, abuse of power, and misappropriation of public funds, as detailed in the referral order. The case has highlighted the ongoing efforts to combat corruption within governmental structures.
