Algiers- Algeria, May 5, 2024 – The activities of the specialized spring camp organized by the High Council of Youth (HCY) wrapped up on Friday evening in Algiers with a final statement advocating for the reinforcement of the role of university clubs in the national dynamic.
The closing ceremony of this spring camp, attended by more than 300 students from various university clubs across the country, was presided over by the President of the HCY, Mustapha Hidaoui. Also present were the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, the Advisor to the President of the Republic responsible for education, higher education, vocational training, and culture, Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Algiers, Prof. Merzak Gharnaout.
In their final statement, the students called for “expanding the influence of university clubs beyond the university environment” and “strengthening their role in the national dynamic.” They also called for “highlighting the effective role played by the sector of higher education and scientific research in developing the capacities and skills of youth.” The students also praised the initiatives of the HCY, “a result of political will at the highest level, reflected by the decisions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” noting that “the constitutional body welcomed with great interest this important initiative of youth, opening up prospects for organized work that can contribute lastingly to the optimal guidance of young people from university clubs.”
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that the organization of these camps was intended to “give more vitality and dynamism to innovative students and young people who constitute the vanguard of the new Algeria.” He noted the realization of the President’s commitment to making the Algerian University a locomotive of innovation and creativity and a leader in various activities of the new Algeria.
Saâdaoui recalled that the President of the Republic had placed students and young people at the center of his interests, adding that what the HCY’s children witnessed today “is only the embodiment of a reality that has materialized in the legal system governing political life in the country.” Hidaoui clarified that these camps aimed to “strengthen the participation of Algerian youth in public and political life” and to “gather students around life skills-related concepts” so that Algerian youth “can apply and anchor their convictions.”
