ALGIERS-A terrorist attack perpetrated in the Center-East region of Burkina Faso claimed the lives of 21 people, including soldiers and volunteers for the defense of the homeland. Despite the heavy losses, the security forces succeeded in neutralizing some sixty terrorists, thus putting a brake on the activities of armed groups in this border area.

Unfortunately, the Center-East region, which shares borders with Togo and Ghana, has been the target of recurrent attacks by armed terrorist groups for several weeks. These violent acts have caused significant disruptions to road traffic between Burkina Faso and Togo, negatively impacting trade and the daily lives of local populations. The Burkinabè authorities had already taken measures to reinforce their military presence in the area, but the attacks persist, jeopardizing the security and stability of the region.

The situation is particularly concerning in the region known as the three borders, which spans across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. The ongoing attacks in this area have created a sense of unease and instability, making it imperative for the authorities to take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of the people.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this senseless act of violence. We stand in solidarity with the people of Burkina Faso and remain committed to supporting efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
