Human Rights Council Calls for Halt to Arms Sales to Zionist Entity

ALGIERS- The United Nations Human Rights Council has adopted a resolution on Friday, calling for an end to all arms sales to the Zionist entity, which has been conducting a genocidal offensive against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
Among the Council’s 47 members, 28 voted in favor of the resolution, while 6, including the United States and Germany, voted against it. Additionally, 13 members, including France, India, and Japan, abstained from voting.
Presented by Pakistan on behalf of 55 out of 56 UN member countries belonging to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with Albania being the exception, the resolution addresses various international crimes. It not only urges the cessation of arms sales, transfers, and deliveries to the Zionist entity but also calls for an end to its occupation of Palestinian territory since 1967, including East El Quds. Furthermore, it demands the immediate lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and all other forms of collective punishment.
The resolution also condemns the Zionist entity’s use of wide-area explosive weapons in densely populated areas of Gaza and the use of artificial intelligence to assist in military decision-making, which could contribute to international crimes.
This resolution by the Human Rights Council comes shortly after the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
