ALGIERS- The dangerous escalation of tensions within Zionist prisons has reached a critical point, with recent actions by prison authorities exacerbating concerns for the safety and well-being of Palestinian detainees.

The Prisoners and Ex-detainees Affairs Authority has sounded the alarm over the perilous escalation occurring in Zionist prisons and detention centers. Palestinian detainees are being subjected to the deprivation of essential resources, namely water and electricity, posing a severe threat to their lives and overall welfare. Particularly troubling is the decision by Zionist prison authorities to implement widespread cuts to water and electricity in the Negev prison, a move characterized as punitive and vindictive.

The severity of the situation cannot be overstated. With approximately a thousand detainees enduring hours without access to water, the conditions surpass rational limits. Such actions blatantly contravene international standards and conventions, constituting a dire threat to the lives of those detained. Immediate intervention and a robust response are imperative to address this crisis effectively.

Call for Red Cross Intervention

In response to the escalating crisis, the Prisoners and Ex-detainees Affairs Authority has issued an urgent plea to the International Committee of the Red Cross. They implore the committee to intervene promptly to halt this repression and demand an immediate visit to the Negev prison. The primary objective of this visit would be to compel the prison administration to restore water and electricity access in all sections and to ensure that such egregious practices are not repeated in the future.

More than 5,000 Detainees Affected

The extent of the crisis is staggering, with over 5,000 Palestinian detainees affected by the cuts to water and electricity in Zionist occupation prisons. This alarming reality underscores grave concerns regarding human rights violations and adherence to international standards by Zionist authorities.
