Algiers, Algeria | June 5th, 2024 — Bahador Bijani, Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), emphasized Algeria’s robust economic performance during a recent meeting.
On Monday, Bijani was received by Salah Eddine Taleb, the Governor of the Bank of Algeria (BA), according to a statement from the BA released on Tuesday. During their meeting in Algiers, Bijani noted “the comfortable economic situation of Algeria and the strength of the indicators displayed, particularly in terms of economic recovery, balance of payments, and external position, as expressed by the IMF mission under Article IV,” the statement detailed.
Algeria Further Strengthens Its Position within the IMF
Bijani also underscored “the strength of Algeria’s performance in recent years, which further solidifies its position within the institution,” the statement continued.
It is important to note that Bijani represents the constituency to which Algeria belongs within the IMF Board of Directors and serves as Algeria’s representative at the International Monetary and Financial Committee.
