Inauguration of Trial Runs for Khenchela-Ain Beida Railway Line Marks Significant Progress

ALGIERS- In a significant milestone, the trial runs for the railway connecting the cities of Khenchela and Ain Beida in the Oum El Bouaghi province were initiated on Thursday, as announced by the National Agency for the Study and Follow-up of Railway Investment Projects (ANESRIF).
The completion of this 51 km railway line has reached a noteworthy stage, allowing for the commencement of the initial trial runs after 18 months of project initiation, according to a press release from ANESRIF.
This operation falls within the broader framework of implementing the additional development program directed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the benefit of Khenchela province. It is also in line with the directives of the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.
ANESRIF highlighted the substantial efforts undertaken by national companies entrusted with the execution of this strategic project. The mobilization of significant material and human resources, along with substantial reinforcements, has led to the achievement of advanced project milestones.
Being part of the essential joint projects, the railway line is a pivotal extension of the national rail network, connecting Annaba to the south and west of Algeria. This underscores its importance in propelling regional development.
The newly constructed line, executed by public enterprises in two segments, involves a 20 km stretch from Ain Beida to Fkirinia, managed by a consortium of four companies. Simultaneously, another group of five companies is overseeing the construction of the second segment, spanning from Fkirina to Khenchela over a distance of 31 km.
As Algeria pushes forward with such transformative projects, the railway line is poised not only to enhance connectivity but also to contribute significantly to the economic and infrastructural development of the region.
