ALGIERS– An interministerial decree has been signed granting incentives to companies interested in scientific research, said yesterday Saturday in Oran the general manager of the start-up accelerator “Algeria Venture,” Sid Ali Zerrouki.
Sid Ali Zerrouki, who represented the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Small and Medium Enterprises at the opening ceremony of the first edition of the International Exhibition of Industrial Synergy in Oran, indicated that the interministerial decree was signed less than a week ago.
He clarified that “it grants incentives and tax exemptions to companies that conduct scientific research.
He pointed out that “the decision is accompanied by the implementing texts of the 2016 law on scientific research institutions, as it shows all the mechanisms and clarifies the working method of these institutions.”
The same official confirmed that the Ministry of Finance had a major role in drafting these texts to serve the economy and national institutions on an equal footing.
For his part, the representative of the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Boudjemia Karim, said during the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition of Industrial Synergy, which takes place from May 13 to 16 at the Congress Palace Mohammed bin Ahmed in Oran, that this fair “concretizes the directives of the public authorities to develop the contribution of the industrial sector to the gross domestic product, which is currently estimated at 5 to 6% and should reach between 10 and 15%.”
