International Olympic Committee Invites President Tebboune to Attend Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

Algiers, Algeria | July 17th, 2024 — The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has extended an invitation to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to attend the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, scheduled for July 26, 2024.

Kheireddine Barbari, the Secretary General of the Algerian Olympic Committee (COA), announced the invitation on Wednesday. “President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has received his invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on July 26. It is now up to the national authorities to decide on the response to this invitation,” stated Barbari.

A Unique Ceremony on the Seine

For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will not take place in a traditional stadium. Instead, the Paris 2024 organizing committee has planned a grand event along the River Seine, with additional protocol ceremonies at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and in the Trocadéro Gardens.
