Algiers- Algeria, May 7, 2024 – During a conference held on Monday at the University of Oran, Mr. You Ki-Jun, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Algeria, discussed various investment sectors that his country finds promising in Algeria.
The South Korean Ambassador expressed a strong interest in bolstering bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Korea across diverse sectors, including energy, technology, fisheries, and higher education.
Mr. You emphasized the robust relations between Algeria and the Republic of South Korea, particularly highlighting the development of a strategic partnership in multiple sectors, with a notable emphasis on energy cooperation.
He noted that numerous South Korean companies have displayed significant interest in investing in Algeria, not limited to energy but also spanning areas, such as basic infrastructure, advanced technology, and fisheries. The Ambassador expressed contentment with the potential for expanding cooperation in the near future, which is presently focused on these sectors as well as higher education.
Trade Volume between Algeria and South Korea: USD 3.4 Billion
The diplomat underscored Algeria’s considerable growth potential, stemming from its abundant resources and skilled human capital, which attract the interest of numerous global economic entities. He pointed out that several major Korean companies are currently operating in the Algerian market, contributing to a trade volume between the two countries totaling 3.4 billion dollars.
