ALGIERS- The permanent mission of Iran to the United Nations has justified its recent military action against the Zionist entity, citing Article 51 of the UN Charter on legitimate defense.

In a statement reported by the official IRNA news agency, Iran asserted that Saturday night’s attack was a response to the deadly Zionist assault on the Iranian consulate in Syria. The attack, which occurred on April 1st, resulted in the deaths of seven Iranians, including two senior commanders.

The mission declared that the missile and drone strikes launched against the Zionist entity on Saturday night marked a conclusion to the retaliation. However, Iran warned that if the Zionist regime were to commit further errors, its response would be much harsher. The conflict, Iran stated, is between Iran and the rogue Zionist regime, and the United States should refrain from involvement.

Furthermore, Iran denounced the silence of the UN Security Council following the Zionist attack on its diplomatic mission in Syria. The mission criticized the Council’s failure to condemn the aggression and hold the perpetrators accountable, suggesting that such action might have prevented Iran from taking punitive measures.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed in two separate statements that it launched dozens of missiles and drones, successfully targeting and destroying significant military assets belonging to the Zionist army in the occupied Palestinian territories. The IRGC warned that any threats from the United States and the Zionist entity would receive a proportional response from Iran.

Additionally, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan announced on Sunday the reopening of their airspace, which had been closed since Saturday night’s Iranian attack on the Zionist entity.
