Iranian Embassy in Algeria Commemorates 45th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution Victory

ALGIERS- The Iranian Embassy in Algeria held a reception last night to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, and the Minister of Irrigation, Mr. Taha Derbal, along with several accredited members of the diplomatic corps and prominent Algerian figures.
Political party leaders and media personalities also graced the occasion, demonstrating solidarity with the Iranian people in celebrating their national festivities. The venue, Sofitel Algiers Hotel, was adorned with portraits of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, and the late Imam Khomeini, symbolizing the reverence for Iran’s revolutionary leaders.
Guests expressed admiration for Iran and its revolution, praising its steadfast stance on the Palestinian cause and its support for oppressed populations. They lauded the significant achievements of the Iranian revolution, which have uplifted the Iranian people in various aspects of life despite facing economic sanctions and external pressures.
During the event, Iranian Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Mohammad Reza Babaei, delivered a speech expressing gratitude to the attendees for their presence and highlighting the triumphant nature of the Iranian revolution. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to pursuing its rights peacefully through demonstrations and marches, advocating for freedom and stability without resorting to external forces or armed groups.
Ambassador Babaei underscored Iran’s foreign policy principles, emphasizing independence from both Eastern and Western blocs in the global order. He praised Iran’s balanced foreign policy and dynamic diplomacy, aimed at safeguarding its interests, regional peace, and global stability.
Furthermore, the Ambassador elaborated on Iran’s remarkable progress in various fields, including technology, science, medicine, and industry, despite enduring decades of harsh unilateral sanctions and economic terrorism. He emphasized Iran’s readiness to share its scientific and technological advancements with friendly and fraternal countries, including Algeria.
In a related context, the Ambassador emphasized the prominent and leadership role of Iranian women, stating: “In terms of women’s advancement, Iran currently sees the participation of Iranian women in over sixty-five percent of government universities, forty percent of the medical university scientific staff, fifty percent of medical personnel, sixty percent of the education sector, and thirty-four percent of country managers in various fields.”
Referring to the principles and constants of the Iranian revolution, the Ambassador underscored the slogan raised by Imam Khomeini, the leader of the revolution, which is to support the oppressed wherever they are, regardless of their religion, color, or political affiliations.
From this perspective, the Iranian Ambassador reaffirmed the unconditional support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Palestinian cause, ensuring that the Palestinian people achieve their rights and regain their stolen homeland. He emphasized that supporting the Palestinians is a cornerstone of Iran’s foreign policy, as Iran continues to provide financial and logistical support, training, and amplification of their voice in official and international forums. Iran has pledged not to waver from this approach until the Palestinian people attain their unconditional and complete independence.
“One of the central issues in Iranian foreign policy is supporting the liberation struggle of the Palestinian people. The Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of its principled policy opposing aggression, occupation, racism, and racial discrimination, and in line with its responsible policy to protect international peace and security, supports the legitimate rights and the continuing legal movement of the Palestinian people for liberation from the occupation and racial segregation imposed on Palestinian land.”
Consequently, the Ambassador called for a referendum among the indigenous population of Palestine, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, to ensure their right to self-determination through voting. He also stressed the necessity of prosecuting and holding Zionists accountable judicially, as one of the reasons for the audacity of the Zionist entity in committing war crimes and genocide is its impunity from punishment and long-term prosecution, backed by political and military support from the United States and some Western countries.
His Excellency the Ambassador did not miss the opportunity to commend President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commendable stance on the central issue of Palestine, his call for international legal action against the Zionist entity, and Algeria’s international efforts in this regard. He said: “We must support the responsible initiative undertaken by the South African government in this regard, and declare our solidarity with the Palestinian people. We mourn the martyrs and wish for the recovery of all the wounded, while calling for an immediate halt to the brutal Zionist aggression on Palestine, especially in Gaza.”
Furthermore, the Ambassador touched upon the bilateral relations between Iran and Algeria, especially as the two countries are celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. He emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s desire to expand its relations with the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, based on their shared principles opposing hegemony and tyranny, and stemming from their revolutionary heritage and beliefs. He noted the high-level exchanges between the two countries after the receding of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We believe that the two revolutionary countries, which have sacrificed many martyrs to achieve dignity, independence, and progress, can have extensive cooperation in various fields. During the past year and after the recession of the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed high-level exchanges of delegations between the two countries. This includes the visit of the President of the Iranian Shura Council to Algeria, the visit of the Algerian Foreign Minister, the Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, and the head of the Algerian-Iranian parliamentary friendship group to Tehran, among others. We anticipate, with the grace of Almighty Allah and the efforts of officials in both countries, positive leaps and developments in the economic and trade dimensions between the two countries, fulfilling the aspirations of the leaders and peoples of both nations.”
At the end of the celebration, the embassy showcased a diverse array of handcrafted artistic paintings and unique industries crafted by talented Iranian hands. Additionally, guests had the opportunity to savor delicious Iranian cuisine.
In conclusion, the celebration served as a testament to Iran’s resilience, innovation, and commitment to progress, inspiring admiration and solidarity from the international community, including Algeria.
