Iranian Embassy in Algeria Marks Fourth Anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s Martyrdom

ALGIERS- The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Algeria marked, last Wednesday, the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of the victorious commanders, Major General Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guard, and Mr. Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy Head of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq. The commemorative event, attended by Algerian and Palestinian political leaders, featured speeches and poetic recitations reflecting on the various dimensions and achievements of the sacred triumphs led by the Quds Force.

In his address at the memorial event held under the theme “Martyr of Al Quds,” Ambassador Mohammad Reza Babaei emphasized the pivotal role played by martyrs in Iran, Algeria, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq in supporting the just cause. He stated, “This day is named the World Day of Resistance, aiming to immortalize the memory and name of that great martyr and all those who walked the same path among the martyrs of resistance worldwide.”

The attendees, including the head of the TAJ Party in Algeria, former minister Fatima Zahra Zerouati, the president of the Baraka Association, Ahmed Ibrahimi, representatives from the El Binaa Movement, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Algeria, Nader Al-Qaissi, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Algeria, Mohamed Al-Hamami, along with other prominent figures, highlighted the significant roles played by the late Commander Qassem Soleimani in confronting the criminal gangs of “ISIS.” His commendable stance in support of the Palestinian cause and his influential persona have left a lasting impact on both security and political formations in the region. The legacy of Hajj Qassem Soleimani has become synonymous with resilient forces and resistance, successfully standing against global hegemony in the past two decades.

The speakers also expressed appreciation for Algeria’s honorable positions, citing its armed struggle for independence as a source of inspiration for numerous liberation movements in Africa and Asia. Algeria has become a symbol for revolutionaries and a focal point for the struggle. Taking advantage of this opportunity, they extended their gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its steadfast principles and unwavering stances regarding the issues of the Islamic nation.

Qassem Soleimani’s Impact on the Palestinian Cause

Major General Qassem Soleimani attributed immense importance to the Palestinian cause, considering it the foremost issue for Islam. He called upon Muslims to unify and stand against the Zionist entity that occupies these sacred lands. Known for supplying Palestinian resistance with military expertise, weapons, and training, Soleimani’s legacy extends to local weapon production capabilities.

His direct supervision of arms transport operations to the besieged Gaza Strip, despite the strict blockade, demonstrated his commitment to supporting the oppressed. Soleimani played a vital role in transferring the experience of smart missiles to Palestinian fighters, enhancing their capabilities to defend against Zionist aggression. The introduction of Iranian rockets, including Katyusha, Fajr, and Grad 122mm missiles, during the 2012 Gaza war marked a turning point, reaching Gaza despite the blockade.

Mr. Mohamed Hamid, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, affirmed this perspective, stating that, “In the past, the manufacturing of explosives and improvised explosive devices relied on primitive methods. The innovation of rockets was closer to individual initiatives, drawing from both outdated military and scientific experiences that may have been surpassed by the passage of time. Trainers from the Quds Force, under the direct supervision of the late Commander Qassem Soleimani, dedicated efforts to procure materials and emulate the methods employed by Mudjahideen in Palestine. They sought to simulate the conditions, enhance the reality of operations, and improve the accuracy and range of the materials used in manufacturing. This collective effort eventually led to the Palestinian resistance possessing more effective and longer-range missile capabilities, becoming an integral part of the defensive strategy for the Palestinian people. Soleimani played a direct role in overseeing the transportation and smuggling of weapons to the besieged Gaza Strip, sacrificing valuable resources to support his oppressed brethren. He contributed to the transfer of smart missile technology to Palestinian fighters, introducing drone technology into the service of jihad for the resistance in Palestine. These missiles empowered Palestinian resistance fighters to effectively counter and respond to any Zionist aggression, delivering significant blows during the 2012 offensive on Gaza, despite the imposed blockade on the region.”

Soleimani lived for Palestine more than any other cause, sacrificing his safety and dedicating his entire life to duty as the Quds Force commander. His commitment reflected his belief in the divine duty entrusted to him, and adherence to the teachings of his country’s leaders, who elevated serving the Palestinian cause to a form of worship.

As the Embassy of Iran in Algeria commemorates the fourth anniversary of Major General Qasem Soleimani’s martyrdom, the ceremony serves as a reminder of his significant contributions to the Palestinian cause and his enduring impact on the region’s geopolitical landscape. The legacy of this exemplary leader continues to inspire those committed to justice and resistance against oppression.
