Algiers- Algeria, May 8, 2024 –  Isidore Mvouba, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Congo, expressed, on Wednesday, his country’s readiness to reinvigorate its relations with Algiers, affirming a “perfect convergence” between the presidents of both nations, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Mr. Denis Sassou-Nguesso.

Following his audience with President Tebboune, Isidore Mvouba stated that he had experienced “historic moments” and had heard the “voice of wisdom” during the meeting with the President, whom he described as an “exceptional personality.”

Mvouba also praised the “cooperative relations between the two countries since 1964,” noting that these relations “have gained significant momentum since President Denis Sassou-Nguesso assumed leadership,” and highlighting “the complete alignment of views between the two presidents.”

He emphasized that President Denis Sassou-Nguesso is eagerly awaiting the convening of the Joint Commission between the two countries to address various issues and expressed regret over the non-implementation of agreements reached during his visit to Algeria in 2017.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, Isidore Mvouba mentioned that President Tebboune praised the signing of a framework agreement by the two assemblies during their meeting. He expressed his hope for further development of cooperation between the two assemblies.
